The Future of Mexican Politics: A Conversation with Mexican Senator Armando Rios Piter (MA'02)

GU Politics, the Center for Latin American Studies, Georgetown's Latin America Initiative, and the Latin American Policy Association invited Mexican Senator Armando Rios Piter (MA’02) to speak with students on September 18. The senator touched on several topics affecting U.S./Mexico relations and engaged in a conversation about the future of politics in Mexico.

The event was moderated by Walsh School of Foreign Service Professor John Tutino and provided students with the opportunity to discuss U.S./Mexico relations.

Armando Ríos Piter is a lawyer, economist, and senator with the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD). Mr. Piter currently serves as senator of the LXII Legislature of the Mexican Congress representing Guerrero.  He is running as an independent in the 2018 presidential election. Ríos Piter has master's degrees from Georgetown and Harvard Universities.
