Connectivity and Education
The Georgetown Americas Institute’s Connectivity and Education project examines the role of digital connectivity in addressing persistent educational inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The project will analyze the structural, institutional, and policy barriers that limit access to meaningful connectivity—particularly in rural areas where gaps in learning, retention, and infrastructure remain acute. A central focus will be the feasibility of expanding connectivity to all schools through emerging technologies such as low Earth orbit satellite systems, alongside the regulatory, financial, and data-related frameworks required to support this expansion.
Through a series of white papers, geospatial analyses, and policy dialogues, the initiative will assess connectivity demand, identify cost-effective deployment strategies, and evaluate regulatory bottlenecks.
