Dr. Jenny Guardado, assistant professor in the Center for Latin American Studies and the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, published a new book Venal Origins of Development in Spanish America (Cambridge, 2025). The book explores  the roots of spatial inequalities in Spanish America through a study of Spanish administrative practices in the Americas.  The book can be purchased here on the Cambridge website.
