Tomás González directs the Regional Center for Energy Studies CREE, is an economist from Universidad de Los Andes and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of London. His professional interests focus on the functioning of energy markets and on energy policy and regulation. He was Minister of Mines and Energy, Economic Advisor to the President, External Affairs Manager for BP in Colombia and Venezuela and Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund. He has been a member of various boards of directors such as Ecopetrol, ISA and Isagen, the Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission and the National Council for Economic and Social Policy. He has carried out public opinion research to evaluate key government initiatives, has been a lecturer in economics in Colombia and abroad, and currently teaches Energy Economics at Universidad de Los Andes.
