“Y esto no es todo” is the Georgetown Americas Institute's Spanish-language podcast on current affairs which airs from Tuesday to Friday at 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Managed by a premier research institute at Georgetown University, the podcast features guests that make the news, as well as analysts and journalists that go beyond the daily headlines. It is directed by Juan Carlos Iragorri, who hosts the podcast along with Paz Rodríguez Niell and Jorge Espinosa.

Juan Carlos Iragorri

Host and Executive Producer

Juan Carlos Iragorri is the director and main host of “Y esto no es todo”. With over 35 years of experience, this Colombian journalist also directs Colombia’s RCN Radio’s opinion show, Voces RCN. He was in charge of “El Washington Post”, also known as “El WaPo”, The Washington Post’s Spanish speaking podcast. He also directed Club de Prensa, a television show broadcast by newschannel NTN24 straight from the US capital, which led him to earn an Emmy award, the Premio Internacional Rey de España de Periodismo, and the Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar. He was Managing Editor at Colombia’s “Semana” magazine and has been a news correspondent in Madrid and Washington D.C. for over 20 years. He is author of three books and has received fellowships in Harvard and Oxford. He loves the Beatles, Soda Stereo, Mozart, salsa music and playing squash.

Paz Rodríguez Niell is one of the podcast’s hostesses. She has been a political journalist at Buenos Aires’ newspaper “La Nación” for over 18 years, where she is an editor specialized in judicial topics. She is also a radio and television columnist. After traveling all around Argentina and several Latin American countries to investigate various corruption cases, her work was awarded by the Inter American Press Society (SIP), the Argentinian Journalistic Entities Association and by Argentina’s Supreme Court of Justice. She is a lawyer and joined the Masters program in Journalism offered by the Torcuato Di Tella University and “La Nación”. When she retires, she wants to spend some time reading Fernando Pessoa on a Portuguese beach.

Jorge Espinosa

Host

Jorge Espinosa is our other host. He forms part of the morning group of journalists at Caracol Radio, one of Colombia’s highest rating radio stations. He studied philosophy and sociology at Bogota's Universidad de los Andes, where he also specialized in journalism. Later on, he joined the master's degree program on international relations at the New School in New York. For three years, he was a cohost on El Washington Post, the Spanish language podcast by the Washington Post. He also wrote for the New York Times en español and has received two Simón Bolívar Nacional Prices of Journalism. He is a great Haruki Murakami admirer and can spend hours listening to jazz.

Dori Toribio is one of our permanent collaborators. She is the Washington, DC, correspondent for the Spanish television news channel Telecinco, for which she has covered the White House since 2010. She was the U.S. chief correspondent for Spain’s national radio station, Radio Nacional de España, until 2014, and from 2019 to 2022 she was a cohost on El Washington Post, the Washington Post's Spanish podcast. She has covered multiple stories as special envoy in over 20 countries and has collaborated with Vanity Fair, Slate, ABC, and NTN24 as a political analyst. She is a sucker for Valencian paella and Mediterranean sunrises.

Verónica Calderón is another contributor. She has been working as a journalist for 20 years and currently works as the News Bureau Editor at Univision Noticias in Mexico City. From 2009 to 2016, she was one of the editors at the international section of the America’s edition of Spain’s “El País” newspaper. She was in the founding team of the Spanish section of “The New York Times” and has collaborated, among others, with the BBC, the Deutsche Welle, the Canadian CBC and Spain’s Cadena SER. She began her career at Morelia’s news journal, “Provincia”, located in Michoacán, one of her natal Mexico’s most dangerous states. Years later, she joined the Masters program in Journalism offered by “El País” newspaper. She is a Club América fan and never eats pineapple pizza.

Producer

John F. Burnett is our producer. He previously produced “El Washington Post”, the Spanish language news podcast by The Washington Post. He also worked in production for la Voz de América and its affiliated stations throughout Latin America, and for National Geographic, where he was awarded two Webby awards for Safari Live. Burnett grew up in Puerto Rico and later on moved to Washington, DC.  He loves Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Puerto Rico´s beaches and coconut ice cream.
